One Month (Already)

Sometimes it feels like we've been married forever (in a good way); I mean, really what's changed? We've been living together for five years now, we've had the same bank account for about two years, and have called everything "ours" from day one.

Then, there's the days when it feels all brand new, and real. Solidified if you will. Say "husband" to someone you don't know, and they know you're in a commited, stable relationship. Where if you say "boyfriend" or even "fiance" it doesn't seem like forever terms.

Sunday after the wedding, I used "husband" a few times. Brittany looked at me, and said I never refer to Justin by his title when I talk to other people; I've always just said "Justin." I figure if they don't know who he is, and how we're connected they'll find out or figure it out on their own.

But, secretly I've never liked those other terms, but I really do like "husband." It makes me happy, makes me dream of babies, grandchildren (a loooooonnnnggg way off I hope!), and growing old together.

What did we do yesterday? We had originally planned on going out for supper, but Justin's had to stay late at work this week to renew his first aid, and has been eating pizza that's been supplied. I didn't think it was fair to either of us to have to wait until eight to eat, so we abborted that plan. We talked about going for dessert, or to a movie. I researched movies and times, and texted Justin that Inseption was playing at 9:15. He called me and said he'd been working outside all day, and was feeling cold and sick (I had a cold - and it was working it's way over to him); we agreed to just play it by ear.

When Justin got home, he was grumpy and feeling really unwell. I admit, I was really looking forward to getting out of the house for a little bit, but then I had an idea. I asked Justin if he wanted something hot or cold: hot. I said I'd be right back, and headed out the door. I picked up some whipped cream, and a chocolate bar, then stopped at Tim Hortons for some hot chocolate. When I got home, I re-poured the hot chocolate into our mugs, topped them with a swirl of the whipped cream, and a grating of the chocolate: dessert came to us!

I have to say though, that the highlight of my night was when my dad stopped by! I was in the shower, almost done when I heard the doorbell ring. I wrapped myself in a towel and headed to see who was at the door, sneakily looking out the front bedroom window. I saw my dads van, and went to get the door. I've only seen him once since Justin and I got back from our honeymoon, and my mum twice. I was thinking that they were mad at me, and they were thinking that I was mad at them. Neither of us having the right answer. It's nice to have spent some time talking to him last night, and today at lunch I ate lunch with my mum at her work. It's nice to see them again! Gotta make a point of getting ahold of them - can't let that go on like that again!
